About the Firm
Native Son Design Studio is a Santa Barbara-based architecture firm founded in 2009. We strive to help our clients succeed in all aspects of the design process. Our scope varies with each client's needs: from ground-up residential design to family campgrounds to tennis clubs to the subtle rhythm of a successful dovetail joint.
Chris Cottrell, Architect
My interest in architecture began while piling up sofa cushions for childhood forts. We all share that basic human urge to create a space of our own.
I value the relationships formed with my clients through the process of architecture. Helping them formulate and achieve their building goals is incredibly satisfying.
When I'm not in the office, I enjoy cycling, cooking, woodworking, skiing and best of all: adventuring with my wife and three boys.

James Blair, Designer
Montana native James Blair received his master’s in architecture from Cornell University. He has designed commercial and residential projects for clients including Nike and Whistle Club. He dabbles with prototyping modern furniture. When he’s not in the office (or the woodshop), you might find him down at the beach with his custom spearfishing gun, riding hammerhead sharks at Cortes Bank, or playing with his sons Dax and Brady.
Cameron Walker, Office Manager
Cameron Walker never imagined she would be a corporate controller or live south of the 36th parallel, but both agree with her. In the office, she is a Quickbooks wizard. Out of the office, she might be surfing, chasing her three boys, or possibly catching up on sleep.
